Thai Original BBQ

Always up for a new place, my wife and stepdaughter wanted to give this a go on a recent trip to the airport.
Ever get that feeling when you walk into an empty restaurant and you know you should just turn around and leave? This is that kind of place. From the decor, sparsely populated fish tanks, plastic foam holding up the fake tree, messy desk area and on top of all that they seat us (almost empty by the way) right where the server goes for water, utensils and all that.
What we ordered :
Tom Kha Gai – Coconut soup
Spring Rolls
Vegetable Fried Rice with Chicken
I decided to skip ordering all together!
Soup – served in a rusty old pot table-side with none of the 4 out of 10 spice we ordered. Mushrooms were old, chicken very dark and coconut obviously never fell from the tree.
Rice – 1 bite from each of us was enough to literally use a napkin to remove orally. Bland, old mushy rice and brown chicken were just awful.
Spring Rolls – Only highlight, well made and light with a great crispy crunch to them. Unfortunately due to everything else these were still left unfinished.
Service was pretty poor, very bad English, bad enough to forget what we ordered or not understand what we ordered not sure which. We love Thai food and ethnic restaurants, but when your server cannot understand your order it’s a little tiresome. After seeing our plates barely touched nothing was said, no manager appeared and we simply got our check which was almost $40…we did have a Thai iced tea (just ok) and a glass of chardonnay but in truth this was just a ridiculous price to pay for one on my poorest dining experiences in recent memory.
With so many great Thai places in town this place doesn’t deserve your hard earned cash. I went to the website prior to writing this review and it’s under construction…probably should stay that way. FYI the same name on 3rd Street is dump but the food rocks…last few times I’ve been there it’s been closed! Any insight?
Thanks for reading and remember as always…
That’s just my opinion
